Title: Surrender

Series: The Ferryman + The Flame #1

By: Rhiannon Paille

Published: October 2nd, 2012 by Createspace

How far would you go to save everything you ever loved?

Kaliel was warned about her love for the Ferryman. One day he will marry the land and leave Avristar forever. She doesn’t listen, and because of what she is– a Flame– one of nine apocalyptic weapons, she sparks a war. In a desperate attempt to save her home and her love, Kaliel tries to awaken Avred, not knowing she may have to make the ultimate sacrifice.

Kaliel and Krishani are elvins, part of Avristar. They are trained to marry the land and help in the World of Men. But a chance meeting has Kaliel and Krishani pining for each other, something that they can’t do. If that was not hard enough, both have a hard time with the simple tasks that they are supposed to perform and at a select age they have to go visit the Great Oak and learn their parable for life.

Kaliel is torn with the horrible parable and her longing for Krishani. At the same time Krishani is plagued with nightmares of death and has a lot of power that he cannot control. Both are sent to the lord and lady of the land for further instruction. While there, they meet up and start spending more time together. But when war strikes and hits to close to home, both have to decide what they will do to protect the other.

I really liked this story. I started with Skeleton and Dust so I had some background on the story. I do admit that it started out slow so it was a little difficult to get into the story right away. I have to say that under normal circumstances insta-love is one thing that really bothers me. But when you find out the whole story you understand why.

Over all I think this is a great story that fantasy lovers don’t want to miss. But I want to warn you, read Skeleton and Dust before you read Surrender. You won’t be so lost.

Title: Lantern & Poison

Series: The Ferryman + The Flame #1.5

By: Rhiannon Paille

Published: December 11th, 2012

This is SURRENDER from the villain’s POV.

Hadwen is no more. The Daed have no choice but to travel to Avrigost to awaken Crestaos. They’re thrown into a whirlwind quest for the Flames, not knowing how ruthless and sadistic Crestaos can be.

As the excerpt says, this is Surrender from Crestaos’ point of view. This is a lot darker, more morbid version of Surrender. I liked this story a little better than Surrender just because there was no drama with Kaliel and Krishani’s relationship. It was good but this cuts right to the good parts.

I really liked this story and thing it added a lot of dimension to the series. I have to say that I’m hooked and can’t wait to read the next book, Justice.

So, if you know anything about me, you know I LOVE cats, I do have 7 of them. Anyway, because of that, I also follow a bunch of rescues, shelters, and crazy cat people on Facebook. Midnight the Rescue Panther and Keith Nichols have started a great series, Cat Land, that is a wonderful story with the kitties from Facebook.

Cat Land: Midnight's Gambit (Cat Land #1)

Cat Land: Midnight’s Gambit (Cat Land – 1)

By Keith Nichols

5 stars

(Excerpt from Goodreads) In this novella, Midnight the Rescue Panther (with some help from his human Keith Nichols) makes his writing debut. Two kittens have gone missing in Cat Land, and it is up to Midnight the Detective and his partner Ghost to find them. But as they close one case, they find a sinister plot to take control of all Cat Land. Now, it is up to Midnight and his friends to stop the evil Queen and save Cat Land. Come join the fun, the chase, and the excitement!

Midnight and Smoke are two detectives in Cat Land. We start the story when Dusty comes to their office and says that two kittens that she has been watching since their mother disappeared have gone missing. Although the kittens are found quickly, there is more than a simple disappearance in the air. A strange Red Devil is seen that taunts Midnight and Smoke.

But when they stumble upon battle rats, the detectives know that they are getting into the middle of something serious. It seems like former queen Cocoa is back from her banishment and plans on taking over Cat Land once again with the help of her battle rats. With the help of an unknown prince, Midnight and all of his friends are going to do what they can to keep that from happening.

I admit, I am a follower of Midnight the Rescue Panther on Facebook. I bought this book because they advertised it and I’m glad that I did. I also follow about half of the other cats that are talked about in the story. It was great to see them all coming together in their own little story. Yes, I will admit it, when I read about Dozer Mason Kitty I was crying since I was follow him also.

This is a great story. Kids through adults will like it. It’s just makes it much more special when you follow them on Facebook. You really learn the purrsonalities of the real life cats. This is a great story that you don’t want to miss. I can’t wait for the next book in the saga. Also, check out the small story Rosie’s Wish and Amelia’s Amazing Day.

It’s so heartwarming to read about all the kitties that I follow on Facebook, past and present This is a series with two novellas. You can find them on Amazon. Don’t miss out!
