Since You’ve Been Gone by Anouska Knight

4 stars

(Excerpt from Goodreads) How do you learn to love again?

In one tragic moment, Holly Jefferson s life as she knows it changes for ever. Now to the external world, at least she s finally getting back on her feet, running her business, Cake. Then she meets Ciaran Argyll.

His rich and charmed life feels a million miles from her own. However, there s more to Ciaran than the superficial world that surrounds him, and he too is wrestling with his own ghosts. Will Holly find the missing ingredient that allows her to live again and embrace an unknown and unexpected tomorrow?

Holly lost her husband shortly after their wedding two years prior. She is still grieving and has push away those that love her to focus on her cake shop. One day she gets the odd request to serve a Happy Divorce cake to Fergal Argyll. At the delivery she meets Ciaran, Fergal’s son.

Ciaran is the typical millionaire playboy. Although he has beautiful women throwing themselves on him, he is interested in Holly. Holly’s business suddenly picks up and she traces it back to Ciaran. She doesn’t know what to think of him and doesn’t know if she could let go of Charlie and move on.

This is a cute, typical girl next door meets millionaire and they live happily ever after. I did feel for Holly, I couldn’t imagine what she’s gone through and I did like how Ciaran took care of her. I have to admit that Fergal was my favorite character.

This is a good vacation/beach book. It’s worth reading if that is what you are looking for.

I received this book for free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
