A Mind Abducted

A Mind Abducted by Corinne Leigh Donovan

3 stars

(Excerpt from Goodreads) Josie, responsible beyond her age, is helpful around the house, takes good care of her younger sister, and always follows the rules.

This is not enough to prevent her from being abducted by a madman. Making it her mission to fight back, she gives everything she has to outsmart her abductor.

With the help of an unexpected ally, she learns how to keep herself alive long enough to come up with a plan. But, will the plan work?

Will she die at the hands of her captor? And if she survives, will she make it back to her family?

Josie has just turned 13 and things seem to be going well. She is friends with the popular girl in school, things are going well for her at home, and then she is kidnapped. This is not one of the ransom kidnappings, this is the child abuse, sex slave kind of kidnapping. With the help of another victim she keeps focusing on how to get out of her situation.

This is a very serious topic and I do think that it was handled well but having said that, there are parts that are very violent and will shock readers. Josie is supposed to be a good girl that follows the rules but gets into a truck and ends up kidnapped. You would think that she was told never to do that, I mean I would have that drilled into my kid’s heads.

Anyway, I have to say for 13 she was mature and I am impressed how she keeps fighting instead of breaking down after the abuse. I have to say that I still think there is something funny between her father and her step father. Something still bothers me beyond the obvious.

This is a pretty twisted thriller. I can see where it wouldn’t be for everyone. I think it is a little lacking. I read it but it’s not one that really sticks in my mind.

I received this book from Book Rooster in exchange for an honest review.
