Here is the other late, very late, Halloween review. Like I said, don’t let that stop you from reading this book.

Paranormal Petersburg by Pamela Kinney

(Excerpt from Goodreads) Travel to Petersburg, Virginia, and the surrounding areas of Colonial Heights, Hopewell, Prince George, Dinwiddie, and nearby Ettrick-Matoaca, Enon, and Chester to discover what spirits, monsters, UFOs, and legends await the unwary. Why are the Union and Confederate spirits still fighting the Civil War in the battlefields? Who is the lady in blue who haunts Weston Plantation House? Learn what the phantoms at Peter Jones Trading Post will do to keep from being photographed. Drink tea with runaway slaves still hiding on the top floor above the Blue Willow Tea Room. Are Edgar Allan Poe and his bride still on their honeymoon at Hiram Haines Coffee and Ale House? Why does the Goatman stalk young lovers? Meet the ghosts of Violet Bank Museum that greet guests at the house. Hauntingly active as they share space with the living, the dead refuse to give up their undead residency.

My Review

5 stars

This book is about hauntings and other events around Petersburg, VA. Pamela starts out with the different equipment that is used on the investigations. Then we hop into the different locations with beautiful color photos, events that have happened in the past, and different occurrences in the present. There is also some folk lore added in to make the book even better.

I really like ghost hunters/investigations and I jumped at the opportunity to review this book. There are 58 color images of the different locations, great history of everyone, and the paranormal that can be associated with them. That in itself was a great part of this book. Just the history of many locations was a learning lesson. You can tell there was a lot of research involved in this book.

I loved learning about the different equipment, there are so many things out there that can be used to detect a spirit. Although there are some places that Pamela cannot give out too much information since they are private locations, I loved how there was contact information if you would like to visit yourself.

I loved this book. There is lots of information and a very entertaining read. If you love the paranormal or ghost investigations you need to check out this book.

To purchase Paranormal Petersburg, Virginia, and the Tri-Cities Area, or for more information, make sure to check out Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Goodreads, and Pamela Kinney’s website.

I received Ghost Hunting in Michigan for free from Schiffer Publishing in exchange for an honest review.

I have to admit that I’m a touch behind and trying to catch up on my reviews. Case in point, Ghost Hunting in Michigan and another review to follow don’t really belong in December. Yes, they were meant to be posted in October. But don’t let this stop you from reading this great book.

Ghost Hunting in Michigan by Bradley P. Mikulka

(Excerpt from Goodreads) Follow along with one of the oldest ghost-hunting groups in Michigan: the SouthEast Michigan Ghost Hunters Society (SEMGHS). Journey through 13 investigations of cemeteries, a comedy club, library, business, hotel, theater, private home, and an old prison. Find out what it s like to have a ghost follow you home. Meet the spirits at the Purple Rose Theater and discover why they never left. Consider what is growling at Blood Cemetery and run with a black form seen at the Durand Union Station. If you have ever wanted to go on a ghost hunt, but found that you were too afraid, it s time to put yourself right in the middle of some of the most haunted locations in Michigan. Read this book if you dare, but do so with the lights on!”

My Review

5 stars

This book is about the South East Michigan Ghost Hunters Society (SEMGHS). You will follow along as the group investigates 13 different locations from a theater, cemetery, library, hotel, and many others. They talk about the investigation; different things that were seen heard and felt; and include notes. There are included pictures that were taken during the investigation, fun facts, and side notes to the investigations.

I really enjoy watching the different programs on television of the ghost hunter groups. There are a couple of them. The part that I really like are those that go through and check to see if something could possibly be causing the phenomenon. I really liked how there were different things that have happened to the different people in the group. But I really liked how you get the sense that this doesn’t always happen so not to expect it. Plus the story of the little boy ghost in the beginning just gives me the creeps thinking about it.

If you like ghost hunting and investigations I recommend checking this book out. It has great tips and recommendations but also makes it fun. It is a great book to read.
