Jack Laskin is an ordinary man. More than ordinary according to some. Running the family hardware store and a life that would bore a snail, nothing exciting ever seems to happen to him.
Then, at his mother’s urging, he tries on a pair of his late grandfather’s old pants and everything changes — most importantly his emerging love life. It’s not long before his mother and her meddling friends get involved.
When an old friend of his grandfather’s tells Jack he has something she wants, his new-found life takes another turn. Having no idea what he is supposed to have, Jack looks to his girlfriend, Connie, and her brother, Robert, for help.
In the end, the answers will all be found in his Grandfather’s Pants.

Praise for My Grandfather’s Pants by Tegon Maus
“This story is fantastic! It is totally different to anything I have read before. As the storyline unfolds, it is sexy, humorous and very entertaining – absolutely brilliant!”- Susan Keefe, Book Reviews By Susan Keefe, Author
“I was definitely not expecting to laugh as often as I did while reading My Grandfather’s Pants. Mr. Maus has a fantastic sense of humour that translates extremely well to the written word. He is adept at teasing out the funny side of even the most serious or mundane parts of daily life. It was especially entertaining to see how he plays around with a wide range of assumptions most of us make about certain groups of people in order to keep his readers on their toes.
My Grandfather’s Pants is a great choice for anyone in the mood for something quirky and original. This is the kind of book that begs to be read more than once. I, for one, will be revisiting it quite soon!”- LAS Reviewer, Long and Short Reviews
“My Grandfather’s Pants is a funny and surprising novel. An enjoyable combination of fantasy and suspense with a touch of romance. The protagonist, Jack is a likeable old soul thrown into a bizarre situation, and the way he handles the bizarre challenges he faces will keep you guessing . . . and laughing. Pick up this book if you want to take a ride on a saucy, madcap rollercoaster. You won’t be disappointed!”- Joseph N. Sidari, Amazon Reviewer
About Tegon Maus
Tegon Maus was raised pretty much the same as everyone else… devoted mother, strict father and all the imaginary friends he could conjure. Not that he wasn’t friendly, he just wasn’t “people orientated”. Maybe he lived in his head way more than he should have, maybe not. He liked machines more than people, at least he did until I met his wife.
The first thing he can remember writing was for her. For the life of him he can’t remember what it was about… something about dust bunnies under the bed and monsters in my closet. It must have been pretty good because she married him shortly after that. He spent a good number of years chasing other dreams before he got back to writing.
It wasn’t a deliberate conscious thought, it was more of a stepping stone. His wife and himself had joined a dream interpret group and we were encouraged to write down our dreams as they occurred. “Be as detailed as you can,” we were told.
He was thrilled. If there is one thing he enjoys it’s making people believe him and he likes to exaggerate. Not a big exaggeration or an outright lie mind you, just a little step out of sync, just enough so you couldn’t be sure if it were true or not. When he writes, he always write with the effort of “it could happen” very much in mind and nothing, he guarantees you, nothing, makes him happier.
He has consistently placed in the top 3 in 189 writing contest in a variety of genres and has been featured in magazines a couple of times to raise money for Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

My Review
5 stars
Jack Laskin is a man that runs his father’s hardware store. He has a great relationship with Connie and deals well with his mother’s over bearing ways. That all changes when I tries on a pair of his Grandfather’s pants. At first he is very hesitant until he finally puts them on and realizes how comfortable they are, then the magic starts.
This is a great story that goes in all directions, but in a good way. I loved how his mother and her friends tried to help and just made a giant comedy of errors with blackmail and revenge. Jack has suddenly become very popular with the ladies and had a series of events that leaves him off kilter. Then there is the curse on the men in the family that is the icing on top of the cake.
If you are looking for a great comedy with a touch of magic, look no further. You will be laughing out loud through this whole book. I can’t wait to read other books from Tegon Maus.

Guest Post – 10 Things you didn’t know about My Grandfather’s Pants
Well maybe not ten. I’m not sure if there are that many… it’s a short book !
I think all writers insert a little something of themselves into their work whether they realize it or not. We are very much like all artist… if you look at their work all the people in the paintings appear to have the same face as the person who created them. I believe the same is true for all writers… our books are in some small part a mirror of ourselves. My story MY GRANDFATHER’S PANTS is no exception to my mirror theory…
- As it turns out this story was set into motion by my mother’s desire to compel me to take a pair of my grandfather’s pants… Gabardine !
- In my story – my Grandfather worked at a gas station and was robbed at gun point. He was shot in the leg in an attempt to disarm the bandit… this is true ! It happened exactly this way ! Even the part about refusing to go to the hospital because he had the responsibility for the station !
- In my story – I describe Connie as… Connie had always been popular; not a cheerleader, Barbie kind of girl, but everyone knew her or, at least, her name. She was an attractive young woman with light brown hair, pulled into a ponytail that swung freely as she walked. I found it hard not to fall in love with her rather than just being friends. The first time I saw her, she wore a pair of black jeans, a white, western style blouse, a black cowgirl hat, with matching boots and bolo tie. She had the shape, the smile and the personality to carry it off. I asked her where her horse was and she answered she didn’t own one but how could a horse find her if she didn’t live in the dream of owning one. I couldn’t argue with logic like that. Every word is true ! This is exactly what my wife said to me on our first date. We have been together for 47 years.
- In my story – Connie has a brother… Robert, who has accidently killed a man and as a result went to prison. Beaten mercilessly, he now has an IQ the equivalent to a 15 year old. In real life my wife has a brother that has been mentally challenged since birth. She spent the better part of her life before me taking care of him and her 4 other younger siblings.
- In my story – Henry and Connie drive out to the orange groves to play kissy face… also true. Dear heart and I spent a good many hours “watching” the trains go by and all that it implies !! The curve in the road is also true and well as the frequent crashes there.
- In my story – Harriet jumps in the car and begins to drive away to escape. The truth of this one is I hate the way my mother drives ! It is a scary proposition… if I’m old my God why does she still have a drivers license ?
- In my story – I talk a lot a little town called Redlands… an actual place. When Dearheart and I were dating we spent a good deal of time in this little town. We ate at the restaurant that I talk about in my story and it still exists today.
- In my story – my characters go for a horseback ride just outside of Redlands… the stables no longer exist but Dearheart and I spent every Saturday morning horseback riding until I was too sore to sit down. She loved it with a passion and so every week for nearly a year you could find us in that stable and I was given Crazy Joe every damn time!
- In my story – while at the restaurant my characters “people watch” and make up stories about those they observe… all true ! To this day it is Dearheart’s and my favorite past time… she is much better at it than I.
- In my story – Henry asks Connie to marry him and it goes like this…
“Connie, what are you doing Saturday?” I asked quietly.
The room fell silent.
“I don’t know,” she answered, wiping tears from her face.
“Then let’s get married. What do you say?”
I have no idea why I said it but it felt right. It was as if I had been waiting for
this very moment to push forward. The argument gave me the courage to say what I
really felt, to ask for what I really wanted.
Robert’s face broke into a huge smile as he rushed forward to throw his arms
around me. He stood to my left, his arm resting across my shoulders. He slipped his
left hand in his pocket and beamed at Connie.
To my shock, her father, still sitting in his chair, took my hand in his. As I
turned to him, tears ran down his face. Blinking them away, he looked deep into my
eyes.
“You know you can do better,” he said, nodding toward Connie.
This is EXACTLY, word for word what happened when I asked my wife to marry me and yes that is what her father said to me. We had known each other for a little over 5 months but that was long enough for me… as I said before… she and I have been together for 47 years !
So, what do you know? There were 10 things you didn’t know about MY GRANDFATHER’S PANTS … who knew ?
