The Rise of the Dawnstar,
book two of The Avalonia Chronicles.
Aurora Firedrake returns in the spellbinding sequel to The Last of the Firedrakes.
The seven kingdoms of Avalonia are crumbling and evil is spreading across the land like a plague. Queen Morgana is close to finding a way to open The Book of Abraxas and it’s only a matter of time until she uses the power trapped inside its pages to enslave the entire world.
With Avalonia growing more dangerous by the day, Aurora must travel through war-torn lands and deep into the heart of the fae kingdom of Elfi. Her goal is to find a legendary weapon infused with the last of the realm’s ancient magic—the only weapon in the world powerful enough to stop the queen.
Aurora might have survived her first battle against Morgana, but the true fight to save her kingdom and restore her throne has only just begun…

My Review
5 stars
Aurora Firedrake is back and she is in for one heck of a ride. Aurora needs to learn how to use her fire mage power, stop her Aunt Morgana for taking over the world, and find the legendary Dawnstar. Aurora has more than just her hands full. But the thing to remember is she is still a teenager and finding her way in this world and doesn’t always listen when she is told what to do and finds herself in trouble. She is still a teenager and in love for the first time. But she is determined to save her world from Morgana no matter what.
We jump right into the action where we left off in The Last of the Firedrakes. Aurora is starting to find her place in Avalonia and is determined to learn how to use her powers to fight Morgana. Then she hears of the legendary Dawnstar and decides this is the only way she can defeat Morgana and goes on a quest to find it, if it is even real.
Aurora also has her first love to deal with too. She is very unsure of herself and her relationship so she is easily distracted by anyone that makes her question Rafe. She also has to make a harsh decision at the end of the story, one that I was not completely thrilled with but I could understand why she made it.
This is a great book and addition to the series. I would recommend reading The Last of The Firedrakes first otherwise you will be lost in this story. But it is one that I think those that like young adult fantasies will love.
I received The Rise of the Dawnstar from the author for free. This has in no way influenced my opinion of this book.
