The Quiet Type by Summer Prescott

Tim and Susannah have ordinary lives on the surface, he’s a mortician for whom death is a serious business, and she’s a chef who really knows her way around a knife, and if the neighbors in their small Midwestern town knew of her dark hobby, they’d run for the hills.

Raised by an apathetic mother and a cruel father, Susannah was bullied and pushed to her breaking point long before she met mild-mannered Tim, and learned to channel her murderous impulses into a strange form of art, which keeps her clueless husband safe…for now.

As strange events occur, and Susannah’s eccentric behavior becomes more dynamic, Tim starts to wonder about his wife. Will he be too perceptive for his own good?

This twisted, psychological, serial killer thriller will sear your psyche and rattle your soul. Buckle up, you’re in for a terrifying ride.

Author’s Bio

Who am I? A wearer of many hats…Mom, dog-Mom, Designer, Author (who sits tap, tap, tapping in her cozy garret until the wee hours of the night), Reviewer, Foodie, etc… but inside, down where it counts, I’m just me, a 40-something, mostly happy divorcee’ who loves life. People fascinate me, and I always seem to find myself in situations that are conducive to others pouring out their hearts and life stories. If you think you recognize yourself in my stories and we’ve ever had drinks together, you just might be right. I am inspired to create tales inspired by the truths, triumphs, terrors and trials of many people blended into rich, complex characters.
I like to think of my blog as a place where we can sit down and chat – the kind of getting-to-know-you chat that inspires novel characters

My Review

5 stars

Tim and Susanna Eckels seem like the perfect couple. They meet in college as introverts that created a friendship that lead to them marrying, Tim opening his own funeral home, and Susanna becoming an assistant to the top chef in the only fine dining restaurant in their little town. But there is so much more to this story. Susanna has a horrible past that has given her dark cravings. She uses these cravings to accentuate her artistic hobby. With bodies piling up Tim is doing everything to protect his reputation as a mortician. But when he starts questioning Susanna’s hobby he will have to protect himself too. Susanna thinks Tim is starting to get an idea about her hobby and is prepared to do whatever it takes to keep her secret.

This is a dark thriller with insight into the killers mind. Susanna broke a long time ago and relies on her artistic hobby to keep her going. Tim and her seem to have the perfect marriage but when he starts wondering about her he puts his own life on the line.

This is a dark thriller that is going to draw you in and have you up all night just to see what happens next. I love how Tim and Susanna look like the perfect couple yet deep down Susanna is seriously unhinged and willing to do anything to fuel her dark artistic hobby. If you are looking for a great thriller to keep you up all night you need to check out The Quiet Type.
