Third Chronicles of Illumination (The Library of Illumination – 8) by C.A. Pack
In book eight of the Library of Illumination where books literally come to life, a silent “Oops!” hangs in the air. Teenagers Johanna Charette and Jackson Roth have allowed a sneaky shapeshifter to slip right through their fingers. The good news is: he’s now trapped between the layers of time and space with their Terrorian nemesis, Nero 51. The bad news is: the Terrorian still wants to control all the Libraries of Illumination, while the shapeshifter wants to dominate everything else, and they’re doing everything possible to break free of their constraints.
Who knows how long the Illumini system will remain safe? It’s taking a toll on Johanna and Jackson, who are smack in the center of everything as they struggle to protect the libraries’ legacy. Can you spell s-t-r-e-s-s? The pressure is driving a stake between the teens, and their mercurial romance could be over before it has truly begun.

My Review
5 stars
Johanna Charette and Jackson Roth are the curators of a Library of Illumination. This is basically a normal library except the books can come to life. This world is filled with realms that have libraries of their own along with many fanciful characters. Johanna and Jackson are trying to keep Merlin’s book of spells safe from a shapeshifting wizard, Odyon. But he is not the only one causing trouble. A Terrorian from another realm called Nero 51 is trying to take over all of the libraries. It’s up to Johanna and Jackson to help keep the Library of Illumination safe but their personal relationship is starting to struggle as much as they are in this battle.
I had not hear of the Library of Illumination series before and I didn’t realize that this was the eighth book in the series. Thankfully there is a map and a note of who and what you are going to meet in this story so I was not completely lost.
I really liked this adventure. You could tell that Johanna and Jackson have some connection yet both are so stressed out about protecting the library that they find a wedge has been driving between them. I really hope that they can work out their differences because it is clear that they are a great couple.
There was lots of action and adventure and an amazing world full of magical books and people. I easily fell into this story and was left wanting to catch up on the first seven books.
I received Third Chronicles of Illumination from Reading Addiction Virtual Book Tours for free. This has in no way influenced my opinion of this book.
