Anthony Hollownton and his partner Rick Nelson are called in to a particularly brutal murder that seems to have religious tones. Unfortunately the neighbors neither heard nor saw anything that could help Tony find the killer. Then there is another murder and Rick starts acting strange and disappears. Tony is getting frustrated with the limited information. Then Tony is visited in his sleep by a woman that died years earlier.
Tony doesn’t want to really accept the paranormal, even with a ghost trying to help him catch the killer. But there is more to Tony than he thinks and with Chris’ help he might just stop the killer. I really enjoyed the paranormal additions to the story. I admit that I was starting to get just as frustrated at Tony trying to figure out what the heck was going on. But that just lead to me up in the early hours of the morning just reading one more chapter.
This is a dark and gritty story. It has lots of action and great paranormal beings added in. I admit that I would have liked a little more about Chris but maybe that is explained more in the second book.

jump to supernatural conclusions. Is his jarring previous case making
him paranoid or is there more to this murder than meets the eye?

Tony Hollownton is still working through learning about the paranormal world that exists alongside of the one he has always known. His partner Rick Nelson is still having a hard time processing his kidnapping and possession by one of the Culeen and the murders then committed by him. He doesn’t want to talk about it and has clearly changed. Tony decides to pick up some extra time during the Fourth of July but then discovers a body hidden in some bushes. Instantly Tony flashes back to the paranormal.
I love this series. Tony has come so far since Hollownton Homicides. He seems to have accepted the paranormal but he is still trying to keep it at a distance. He really wants to know what happened to Rick and his wife but it is clear they are not ready to talk about it, if they ever want to talk about it. I was just as frustrated because I wanted to know what Tony was up against.
I love this series and can’t wait to get the next books. The Anthony Hollownton series is the first books that I have read from the author but I will definitely be checking out her other books. I just hope there will be a book three and that it will be out shortly.
