The Void follows them through history, increasing the dangers as if testing Penny. But what is it testing for? And why does it claim to know her better than even she knows herself? Even as Penny searches for answers, she must fight to survive the tragedies of both the past and future in order to get back home.

My Review
4 stars
Penelope Grace, Penny has a hard time standing out since her twin seems to have it all. Penny is stuck with the ability to see emotions in color. One day she senses a human shaped Void and decides to investigate. Penny and a young man that was in the same place at the wrong time are taken by the Void and sent through time. Penny and Stranger, the young man’s name since he has amnieia, need to get back to their own time and stop the Void.
This was a good story that drew me in and let me asking who The Void was. He seemed to be pushing Penny in each time she finds herself in. But at the same time he feels like the bad guy with him continuously sending Penny on a goose chase. Penny needs to figure out who and what it is if she ever plans on returning home.
A Penny Lost is a good story. There were times it felt rough and the descriptions seemed too much. But over all this is a good read and one that I think you should check out if you like time travel.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. I voluntarily chose to read and post an honest review.

Villains
I find villains to be incredibly difficult to write because, once I do some character creation, I tend to get emotionally attached and want them to be happy. Take for example, the character Ricky in my latest book, A Penny Lost. Originally the villain, Ricky was not cooperative about his fate and instead became one of my favorite characters. The result of multiple impossible moments, Ricky took advantage of each tough situation to become, though he was marked by the author to turn villainous, an absolute clown. Ricky is one of those grown up men who will burst into song at a given moment or slip into a bizarre accent just to crack a smile. He’s the kind of guy who knows the importance of laughter and is determined to spread it where ever he goes. I can’t promise him a true happy ending but I can know that his character will figure out a way to smile through it all. No villain can make that claim, not even Batman’s The Joker, so the “villain” mark had to be erased and a new villain created.
And so The Void came into existence. Can I stay away from falling in love with another villain? Can I stop myself from emphasizing and taking matters into my own hands to give them a source of happiness? With this thing, yes. Yes I can. The Void creeps me out. A manipulative, otherworldly energy, The Void has no humanity in it. It cannot understand human emotions and so its creepy obsession with the lead character, Penny Grace, is therefore tripled. Not even she, a girl with the natural ability to see and understand spiritual energies, can read this thing. And if she can’t understand its intentions, how can she fight it? Finally, a villain I could claim.
I loved creating The Void and trying to see humanity from a dispassionate point of view. Yet, the more The Void claims to emotionless, the more emotions it tends to reveal. What does it want with Penny? Why does it feel a connection to her? Getting to know The Void was quite the wild ride and I look forward to hearing people’s theories as to what it really wants with Penny as the book trilogy progresses.
