Inside the Whispers (Dr. Samantha Willerby – 1) by AJ Waines
The most dangerous place is inside your own head…
Dr Samantha Willerby, a specialist in Post Traumatic Stress, has never seen anything like this before. Following a fire on the London Underground, three survivors seek her help – but although unmistakably traumatised, their stories don’t match the facts. Are they ‘faking it’? Sam’s confusion turns to horror when one by one, instead of recovering, they are driven to suicide.
When her lover, Conrad, begins to suffer the same terrifying flashbacks, Sam is desperate to find out what’s causing them. As a mysterious and chilling conspiracy begins to unravel the nightmares begin for Sam…

My Review
4 stars
Samantha Willerby is a psychologist that specializes in trauma victims. She has three clients that are suffering from the same event, a fire in the tubes below London. But there was no fire and the stories are not adding up. But then one of her clients can’t live with the survivor’s guilt and commits suicide, then another and the other. Sam feels guilty that she didn’t see the warning signs of suicide but doesn’t have time to explore this when her boyfriend starts having the same visions of the tube fire. Then she does.
I was instantly curious about this book after reading that description. I loved how easy it is to get sucked into this story. I mean I was so curious about how three people can be traumatized by an event that didn’t happen. The mind is a very interesting thing in how it can behave. Then there is the mystery/thriller twist that kept me on the edge of my seat. And just went you think you know what is happening, BAM! Surprise twist on the last page.
This is an amazing start to a new series. I come to love Sam as the story went along. I am very excited to read the next book in this series.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. I voluntarily chose to read and post an honest review.
I would like to thank Bloodhound Books for the opportunity to read and share this book.
