The Lock by Andrew Barrett
I’m Eddie Collins, a CSI. This is the story of how I saw a dead man die.
I was finishing up at a sudden death in an old house, waiting for the body snatchers to arrive, when I heard a noise from the cellar.
I had time to kill, so I went to investigate.
Turns out I wasn’t the only one with killing on his mind.
If you like fast-paced crime thrillers with a forensic slant, raw emotions, and characters that reach out of the book and grab you by the throat, you’ll love Andrew Barrett’s CSI Eddie Collins series.

My Review

CSI Eddie is a cantankerous guy that is very set in his ways. He can be intimidating because he is very no nonsense. We start with him investigating a 15 year old teen that disappeared. He has his ideas of where the kid went but he also knows procedure in case his idea doesn’t pan out and is very irritated to see that the local cops have stomped through everything. He hates being pulled away from the initial case but can’t turn down a warmer location.
He can’t really complain too much about the old guy that is found dead. He clearly is a man like Eddie but it is strange that he is holding that key. Of course Eddie can’t help but snoop through the antique house in the hopes of finding a location for the key. But he gets more than he bargained for.
I was kept on the edge of my seat as Eddie traverses horror after horror in his sarcastic way. I loved him as a character. This was my first time reading about him and it won’t be my last. I can’t wait to read more in this series and other books from Andrew Barrett.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. I voluntarily chose to read and post an honest review.
