My Review
4 stars
Husband and wife investigative journalists Leo and Vivian are back. Leo’s dad wants him to take over the newspaper but Leo has other plans. Vivian goes out on a girls night out which turns badly when one of the girls tries to escape a stalker and has a bad fall that leads bother Phoebe Wall and Vivian in the hospital. But Vivian overhears something that has her worrying about Phoebe. The next day she learns that Phoebe died of an accidental morphine overdoes. But with what she hears Vivian and Leo decide to look into Phoebe. What the couple finds is a shady past, several suspects and lots of guilt around.
I like Vivian and Leo, they work well together but the guilt of secrets didn’t make them as close as they could be. Beyond that, this is a great thriller that had me guessing. Just when I thought I might know the who and why of the killer I was thrown off. I was definitely on my ties with this one.
This is a great sequel to The Prodigal Captive. I quickly got into the story and couldn’t put the book down. It is a quick read that left me satisfied with the mystery yet wanting more of Vivian and Leo. I can’t wait to read more from Rachel Woods.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. I voluntarily chose to read and post an honest review.
