My Review

MG Martin writes for a comic and has a vast knowledge of geek culture. We start the story as she is in line for her morning coffee and happens to see the news over the shoulder of the guy in front of her. There is a vigilante that went after some drug dealers but the bad guys are posed like a scene from her favorite comic, the Hooded Falcon. That guy was Detective Matteo who is working on the case. He brings MG in as a consultant which seems to ruffle some feathers.

But the deeper MG gets to the case, the more it is looking like her friends and she are the vigilante. MG is determined to stop the Golden Arrow and the White Rabbit, drug dealers. But every time she thinks she has found a clue it has made her and her friends people of interest in the case. This is not helping Matteo at all and getting MG in deeper and deeper trouble.

I loved this world filled with every kind of geek culture references possible. I really enjoyed watching Matteo get submerged into the world too. I really liked how MG was interested in creating costumes. I have to say that L was my favorite character, he was so over the top.

Now the bad. MG is so self-centered and such a jerk that I was getting tired of how she is a woman in the comic field, she is only looked at for her boobs, and how she has to distance herself from everyone to be professional. It got as annoying as how all she could think about around Matteo was jumping his bones. Enough already, get to the darn mystery.

I liked the mystery and how things came full circle. The story is left open so I am excited to read the next book. Overall it’s a good read and one that I recommend checking out.
