About the Author
My short fiction has been longlisted in CBC Radio’s Short Fiction Contest twice (2018/2015) and the Gloria Vanderbilt Short Fiction Contest (2012); and won an Honourable Mention at Grit Lit (2019) and in the Hamilton Public Library’s Short Works Prize (2017). I won first prize in Dandelion Magazine’s Contest (1991). My work has been published internationally and has appeared or is forthcoming in The Broken Plate, The Malahat Review, SOL: English Writing in Mexico and DAP: The Diverse Arts Project; and been anthologized in Best Canadian Stories and She Writes. I have published two books—the novel Mad Dog (2001) and the mini travel companion Camino Meditations (2014). A revised U.S. edition of Mad Dog is forthcoming in 2019.
I attended the University of Southern California, University of Toronto, Humber College (Novel) Writers’ Program, and the Sorbonne. I had a former life as a CBC television writer, researcher and activist. I love to travel and have lived in France, India and Mexico. These days I make my home in the Ontario countryside with my husband, a miniature schnauzer and three diligent chickens.
