Deadly Errors Giveaway

Deadly Odds

Allen Wyler has a new book coming out in September, Deadly Odds.

(Excerpt from Goodreads) Twenty-three year old Arnold Gold is a Seattle-based odds-maker and local computer genius. Described as a ‘part-time hacker and full-time virgin’ by his friends, the awkward young shut-in flies to Vegas to try and get lucky in more ways than one. But his high stakes activity on the Net inadvertently thrusts him into a vortex of international terrorism.

Dark Net Hacking has resulted in murder, and now it will take every last bit of Arnold’s genius intellect and legendary hacking skill to stay one step ahead of the murderous terrorists, the FBI, the local cops and his lawyer. Gold’s only chance to save himself is to find the location of a bomb hidden somewhere in Vegas, and somehow prevent the explosion that will turn Sin City into the scene of the deadliest terror attacks since 9/11.

To celebrate the release of Deadly Odds, there will be a giveaway for Deadly Errors throughout the month of August. Find my review here.

Thriller Explores Biggest Medical Nightmare:

Deadly Patient-Care Errors

“A thriller that only a doctor could have written. Wyler’s sense of the worlds of the hospital and operating room are unsurpassed. You’ll feel as if you are right there.”

–Michael Palmer, New York Times bestselling author of Miracle Cure and The Sisterhood

“Deadly Errors is a wild and satisfying ride! This is an ‘up all night’ pass into troubled places that only hard-working doctors know about, a turbulent world of trusting patients and imperfect humans struggling with the required image of perfection.”

–John J. Nance, author of Pandora’s Clock and Fire Flight

A comatose man is given a fatal dose of insulin in the emergency room, even though he isn’t diabetic.  An ulcer patient dies of shock after receiving a transfusion of the wrong blood type.  A recovering heart patient receives a double dose of medication and suffers a fatal heart attack.

Brain surgeon Dr. Tyler Matthews suspects that something is seriously wrong with the hospital’s new Med-InDx computerized medical record system. But he doesn’t suspect that there’s something murderously wrong with it.

As Matthews begins to peel back the layers of deception that cover the deadly errors, he crosses powerful corporate interests who aren’t about to let their multi-billion dollar medical record profits evaporate. Now a target, Matthews finds himself trapped in a maze of deadly conspiracy, with his career, his marriage, and his very life on the line.

Once again, Wyler blends his unparalleled expertise as a world-class surgeon with his uncanny knack for suspense to create a true best-of-breed medical thriller. Deadly Errors is a lightning-quick action procedural that is destined to win new fans to the medical thriller genre.

Allen Wyler

Allen Wyler is a renowned neurosurgeon who earned an international reputation for pioneering surgical techniques to record brain activity.  He has served on the faculties of both the University of Washington and the University of Tennessee, and in 1992 was recruited by the prestigious Swedish Medical Center to develop a neuroscience institute.

In 2002, he left active practice to become Medical Director for a startup med-tech company (that went public in 2006) and he now chairs the Institutional Review Board of a major medical center in the Pacific Northwest.

Leveraging a love for thrillers since the early 70s, Wyler devoted himself to fiction writing in earnest, eventually serving as Vice President of the International Thriller Writers organization for several years. After publishing his first two medical thrillers Deadly Errors (2005) and Dead Head (2007), he officially retired from medicine to devote himself to writing full time.

He and his wife, Lily, divide their time between Seattle and the San Juan Islands.

Title: Surrender

Series: The Ferryman + The Flame #1

By: Rhiannon Paille

Published: October 2nd, 2012 by Createspace

How far would you go to save everything you ever loved?

Kaliel was warned about her love for the Ferryman. One day he will marry the land and leave Avristar forever. She doesn’t listen, and because of what she is– a Flame– one of nine apocalyptic weapons, she sparks a war. In a desperate attempt to save her home and her love, Kaliel tries to awaken Avred, not knowing she may have to make the ultimate sacrifice.

Kaliel and Krishani are elvins, part of Avristar. They are trained to marry the land and help in the World of Men. But a chance meeting has Kaliel and Krishani pining for each other, something that they can’t do. If that was not hard enough, both have a hard time with the simple tasks that they are supposed to perform and at a select age they have to go visit the Great Oak and learn their parable for life.

Kaliel is torn with the horrible parable and her longing for Krishani. At the same time Krishani is plagued with nightmares of death and has a lot of power that he cannot control. Both are sent to the lord and lady of the land for further instruction. While there, they meet up and start spending more time together. But when war strikes and hits to close to home, both have to decide what they will do to protect the other.

I really liked this story. I started with Skeleton and Dust so I had some background on the story. I do admit that it started out slow so it was a little difficult to get into the story right away. I have to say that under normal circumstances insta-love is one thing that really bothers me. But when you find out the whole story you understand why.

Over all I think this is a great story that fantasy lovers don’t want to miss. But I want to warn you, read Skeleton and Dust before you read Surrender. You won’t be so lost.

Title: Lantern & Poison

Series: The Ferryman + The Flame #1.5

By: Rhiannon Paille

Published: December 11th, 2012

This is SURRENDER from the villain’s POV.

Hadwen is no more. The Daed have no choice but to travel to Avrigost to awaken Crestaos. They’re thrown into a whirlwind quest for the Flames, not knowing how ruthless and sadistic Crestaos can be.

As the excerpt says, this is Surrender from Crestaos’ point of view. This is a lot darker, more morbid version of Surrender. I liked this story a little better than Surrender just because there was no drama with Kaliel and Krishani’s relationship. It was good but this cuts right to the good parts.

I really liked this story and thing it added a lot of dimension to the series. I have to say that I’m hooked and can’t wait to read the next book, Justice.

Title: Skeleton & Dust

Series: The Ferryman + The Flame #0.5

By: Rhiannon Paille

Expected Publication: October 1st, 2013

In the First Era, before Kaliel and Krishani fell in love, Tor runs. He escapes the Land of Kings and the tyrannical Valtanyana. In the depths of Tempia he forges weapons– The Flames– strong enough to oppose the Kings he betrayed.

Aria, The Amethyst Flame, cannot touch the living or the dead and her kin are silent ghosts. Hidden in a cairn deep in the haunted forest, Aria becomes obsessed with the Ferryman, the only boy who can feel her touch.

Before Aria knows it, The Flames, The Ferryman and Tor are swept up in the first war against the Valtanyana.

Tor has found his soul mate on Tempia. But he knows that the Valtanyana won’t stop hunting him which means the peaceful Tempians won’t survive. Tor starts creating Flames to help fight the Valtanyana. But with an accident, he creates Aria, the Amethyst Flame. Not knowing what to do with her, he keeps her secluded.

Aria follows Tor’s instructions, but she know she is different and needs to stay hidden. When Tor tells her to call the Ferryman, she finds that she is drawn to him. But the Valtanyana are starting their attack and she has been dealt a bad card but must make use of that and her connection to the Ferryman.

I have been meaning to read the Ferryman and the Flame series for a while now. This was a great way to get into the series and help promote the book. I loved Skeleton and Dust. It was interesting to find out how Aria was created and her connection to the Ferryman. I felt for Tor and would like to know how the rest of his story plays out. Over all, I am officially hooked and can’t wait to get reading the rest of the books in the series. You have to get this book, either to start the series or to catch up on prior events.

Victoria Simcox is having a giveaway for Emma Michael’s Owlet. All you have to do is visit Victoria’s blog and leave a comment. The giveaway is over on Monday 7/29/13. This is one book that you don’t want to miss!

Iris has a secret. She lost her memory eight years ago and never told a living soul. After an asthma attack one night she finds out that her dreams of a strange house on a snowy island may be a memory resurfacing but the more she learns about the past the more she realizes the life she has been living is a lie. As the façade her father has built starts to crumble around her she will have to decide which means more to her; the truth or her life.

Emma Michaels is a multi-talented bookish girl. Not only is she the designer of beautiful covers, but she has many other accomplishments under her belt. She started book blogging in 2009 and was first published in 2010. She started The Writer’s Voice blog in 2011 as a way to help readers get to know authors on another level.
She moved to Washington at seventeen to be with the man that she loves, who asked her what she secretly wanted to be when she grew up. Naturally, she told him that she wanted to be an author, but at the time she thought “it was a pipe dream.” He encouraged her to pursue her dreams and taught her that “sometimes reaching for the impossible can make a world of difference in your life.” Now she is published and reaching well beyond what most people can imagine.

You can also purchase a copy on Amazon, and Barnes and Noble.

The Magic Warble

Well, I know this is a couple days late, but I wasn’t worried about that. This was a sad giveaway. I had no one sign up so I have NO winner’s. I just feel bad for Victoria. I hated to tell her that no one signed up for the giveaway.

Sadly I have been thinking about closing down my blog. I know I don’t have a lot of followers but I do have a ton of books to review. I’m debating just shutting down the blog. It’s not like anyone really subscribes or that I have time to do a lot of posting on it any way.

I do want to keep providing reviews for authors though. I understand how important it is for honest reviews on their books will help get their names out into the world and does help influence people on what books to buy and gives an idea of if the books are good or not.

I guess we will see what happens.
