Rememdium Series

Tainted Cure
The Rememdium Series Book 1
by Ashley Fontainne
Genre: Post-apocalyptic, SciFi
Scientists attempted to find a cure for addiction. They failed.
Dr. Everett Berning, a leading researcher into the causes of addiction in
the brain, spent ten years of his life dedicated to one thing:
finding the cure. Recruited after a strange encounter with the
enigmatic Dr. Roberta Flint, Director of Research on Code Name:
Rememdium, Dr. Berning is sent to work in a secret lab as part of the
research team.
When the moment the scientists waited on for years arrives, Dr. Flint
and her team are ecstatic.
Unfortunately,
not everyone in the world feels the same way.
Benito San Nicholas isn’t ready to give up his lucrative business. When the
news of a cure arrives on his doorstep from a crooked informant,
Benito enlists the help of other drug lords from around the world to
stop the cure from hitting the streets and destroying their
livelihoods.
What happens next ends up uniting the globe–just not the way society
ever intended or hoped.
Tainted Cure is a huge success on different levels. First, the story is
original, well thought-out, and brilliantly accomplished. It’s not
unusual to read books with dangerous products falling into the wrong
hands, but what happens when a good product falls into the wrong
hands? The characters are lovely and engaging, and readers will feel
inclined to connect with Dr. Everett Berning and the enigmatic
Roberta Flint. Benito is the epitome of evil, a greedy character that
readers will hate. Third, the pace is fast and there are so many
surprises and twists to keep readers turning the pages. Ashley
Fontainne has crafted an intriguing story that starts with a bang and
ends on a very high note. You can’t help but fall for this author’s
beautiful prose, her complex characters, and the oh-so-entertaining
read.” – Romuald Dzemo for Readers’ Favorite

Scientists are working on a cure for addiction. After years they have found a way to alter an addict’s brain. But this leads to a revolt from the drug industry. But there is so much more happening than drug dealers being out business. The cure also alters the body and its ability to stay dead. No one is safe and everyone has secrets from the government all they was to the dealers.

I have to say that I didn’t quite know where this book was going but I loved the whole ride. You have those that want to help addicts and have struggled for years on a cure. You have those that don’t want to lose their power and wealth. Of course if you get zombies involved you know that this is going worldwide.

I loved the action and the story. Fontainne has created a great zombie story with a new twist on the beginnings, how people are trying to stay in control or get control, and how something so innocent gets twisted in the worst way. I love this book and can’t wait to dig in to Tainted Reality.

This story jumps right into where we left off in book 1. Dr. Everett is in the lab being pressured into making a cure to the zombies. You have the military that have discovered that shooting the zombies in the head stops them but has decided to shoot everyone to be doubly sure that the zombies are eradicated. Then there is Regina. She is trying to keep her little band of survivors safe and alive.

Dr. Everett is underground in the Ozarks and being pressured to make figure out what went wrong with the cure and if they can fix it. You also have Regina Parker and her little group of survivors. They think they may have a little rest at a Walmart but nothing is this new world is going to be safe for long. I really enjoyed following Regina, she is such a strong woman and determined to try and save her little group. Of course the odds are stacked against them.

I recommend reading this series since this book follows closely on the heels of Tainted Cure. It’s so easy to get into this action packed story. And the ending, OMG!! Talk about a shocker and cliff hanger. Thank goodness I have Tainted Future to get right into.

Tainted Future
The Rememdium Series Book 3
Everything they know is gone. The old world obliterated in less than forty-eight
hours. They soon discover they aren’t alone, and other dangers
besides the undead lurk in the forests. The new law of the land: kill
or be killed

Dr. Everett Berning and his team seek refuge in the underground lab in
the Ozark Mountains. The first week after the collapse of
civilization, those who made it out alive struggle against the odds
to survive.
Only a handful escaped the devastation in their hometown of Malvern,
Arkansas, and they grapple with the new reality. Tired, frightened,
and mourning the loss of loved ones, they attempt to regroup and cope
with the life-altering changes.
When one suffers a debilitating injury, they are thrust into a tenuous
relationship with Dr. Berning’s group. Other survivors battle the
odds as they flee treacherous cities destroyed by the government and
crawling with reanimated corpses.
Unfortunately, they all are about to discover the roaming dead aren’t the only
threat they face. As the world plummets into darkness, things will
never be the same. Ever.

The groups of survivors are going to have to work together if they are going to survive this zombie filled world. It’s not just the zombies they have to worry about. You have a government and military that is running around with the last orders of leaders that have disappeared and may or may not still be alive. They you have the worst of people that do whatever they please.

The groups are going to come together and power is going to shift through them. Some people are going to rise to and others are going to be left behind. I had some questions that were answered in Tainted Future but then I was left with new ones. I was left reeling after the end of Tainted Reality and with the group dynamics I was still off balance.

I really like this series. It’s a fresh twist on a zombie story yet the same when it comes to the trials survivors face. I admit that I’m so used to trilogies that I didn’t expect another book to come. But with the ending of Tainted Future I can’t wait to see what Ashley Fontainne is going to put her group of survivors through next.
